The 32nd card of 2019 is now complete. I’m not sure if 32 has any significance for the Cardinals or not, but maybe. This cross stitch took longer than expected and has way more errors than expected.
After a couple of days I had to get out my “ICE” light setup. I don’t have a real ice light, so my off brand has to be plugged in at all times. This means not only is there a light stand by me, but an extension cord to trip over as well. 22 count is so tiny and my eyesight seems to be getting worse as I stare at these for longer and longer hours. Bright lights and working outside seem to be best for contrast to really see where the holes are.

This pattern is from the same book as the New York Yankees pattern came from. Unlike the Yankees there are several Cardinals fans in the family. And as I have been doing, only one is chosen to receive it. This time it is for my uncle and godfather. My cousin asked if it was for her dad as he is a huge fan, but sadly it was selected for someone else.
Since I am always on a time crunch with these I decided that as soon as I could I would start the backstitching. This turned into a bit of a fun venture as on the Cardinal I had mis-counted at some point. Since the pattern is in black and white I also got messed up with the backstitching around the legs.

As you can see some of the baseball stitches are not in red. I noticed this afterwards and well really couldn’t go tearing everything out. This card is going to be my most unique yet with the sheer amount of mistakes and cat furs sewn into it.

I’m sure my uncle will still enjoy it. If anything my mistake around the legs can be the stitches in “shadow”. Now it’s time to begin the next one as I have no time to waste.
